nature and the “Me” Problem with veteran rites co-founder and elder larry hobbs

In this interview with Youth Passageways, Larry Hobbs shares his elder wisdom and addresses “The Big Lie” that we are anything but nature. Consider this “cup of tea” with Larry a field guide to living a life grounded in the powers of nature and wholeness.

From a field biologist studying whales and dolphins, to a psychotherapist working with individual and family systems, to a teacher and naturalist leading wildlife trips worldwide, Larry came to Lost Borders to train and to guide vision fasts. In 2017, he took OEF Veteran Mark Oravsky under his wing to bring rites of passage in the wildnerness by creating Veteran Rites. "I love helping people discover new ways of experiencing their relationship to the natural world . I love listening to the stories and seeing hearts open to new possibilities. I love the people who dare to go alone into themselves and return with great gifts for us all."

ON BEING POETRY FILMS

We know poetry to be a critical pillar of public life. It rises up when official language fails us. And it gives voice to what is human and what is true, how we connect and what questions we hold.” These short, brilliant films guide take us on a journey to the depths of what we are and what we hold.
